CLERK allows multiple users to access the CAD simultaneously. Whenever one dispatcher updates call information, it is immediately transmitted to and displayed on all other CAD stations. This ensures that each dispatcher has a complete, up-to-date view of the situation.
Multiple dispatch stations could involve (a) dual-role dispatching, where one person is the "call taker" and another is a "radio dispatcher", or (b) dual-location dispatching, where dispatchers are in physically different locations.
There are currently several CLERK sites running multiple dispatch stations. In one case, the dispatch stations are 30 miles apart in different parts of the city.
Speed is an obvious issue with dispatching. This is influenced by several things, primarily: the speed of the server; the speed/quality of the computer network connecting the server and dispatching stations; and the number of records in the system.
