Downloading and installing plugins

What is a plugin?
A plugin adds functionality, such as extra modules, to CLERK. Most commonly, plugins deal with state-specific tasks such as state IBR reporting.

How does the download process work?
The downloads page lists all available plugins. Click on an item to view more details. From the details page, you may click on the filename to download the plugin.

How do I respond to the message "do you want to save the file to disk or run it from the current location"?
You should always save it to disk.

Where do I save the software to?
The location is up to you. The desktop is often a good choice, since the software is easy to find.

It's downloaded. Now what?
Normally, you double-click on the file that was downloaded to extract the plugin. The destination directory should be the CLERK plugins directory. Unless you changed the default settings while installing CLERK, this would be C:\Program Files\Terrier Technologies, Ltd\CLERK\Plugins. The name of the extracted plugin ends in .BPL. The download page may provide additional instructions.

Do I have to update each computer separately?
The plugin needs to be installed on each computer that is going to use it. It does not have to be on every computer in the department. Just copy the .BPL file into the plugins directory on each client computer.

Do I have to do anything special after installing the plugin?
If the plugin has not been installed before, you need to register it in CLERK (log on as SYSDBA, choose Plugins from the Settings menu). Documentation normally accompanies each plugin describing the registration process.
